Heart disease risk isn't just about cholesterol — blood sugar plays a role too. Our Heart Health Test gives you a fuller picture in one at-home finger prick, measuring total cholesterol, HDL ("good") cholesterol, calculated LDL ("bad") cholesterol, triglycerides, and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), a marker of your average blood sugar over the past three months.1
Instead of scheduling a fasting lab visit or waiting weeks for an appointment, you collect your sample at home, mail it to a certified lab, and get results in days. Below, real Everlywell customers share what it was actually like to use the test — and how they used their results to talk to their doctor or adjust their habits.

“Heart Health Test Review: Excellent”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)
“The Heart Health Test was excellent. It gave me the knowledge regarding the levels of cholesterol in my body, as well as sugar. Now I know what to target and mention to my physician on my next appointment. It also helped me to decide what foods to avoid so as not to make potential health problems worse.”
“Helpful tool to help monitor lab values in real time”

“I enjoy using and working with the Everlywell test products very much. Cost-comparative to paying for the service through my MD and insurance plan, Everlywell is a significant financial savings for me and the insurance system. It allows me to test when I want to keep an eye on lab values I'm monitoring and working to change through nutrition and lifestyle changes. Great value for the time and money investment!”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)
“I wanted a baseline test before scheduling an appt with an MD. This will give me time to work on my cholesterol and hopefully reduce the need for meds. I am 69 years old and the only medications (supplements) I take are vitamin D and Magnesium. As a retired nurse, I understand that it is important to be proactive concerning my health.”
“Great at-home tests!”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)
“Easy-to-use, detailed instructions, great communication via email and text, fast results that show your values, recommended ranges and descriptions of significance of each measurement. Have had three tests to date and will definitely use again in the future.”
Frequently asked questions
Who should take the Heart Health Test?
The Heart Health Test may be a good option if you:
- Want a combined snapshot of your cholesterol and blood sugar in one test
- Have a family history of heart disease or type 2 diabetes
- Are managing your cholesterol or blood sugar and want to track progress between doctor visits
- Have made diet, exercise, or medication changes and want to see how they're affecting your numbers
- Want a baseline reading to bring to an upcoming doctor's appointment
What's the difference between the Heart Health Test and the Cholesterol & Lipids Test?
Both tests measure total cholesterol, HDL, calculated LDL, and triglycerides. The Heart Health Test adds HbA1c, a marker of average blood sugar over the past 3 months, giving you insight into diabetes risk alongside your cholesterol numbers.1
How accurate is the Heart Health Test?
Everlywell's partnered laboratories are considered industry leaders in their respective areas, with extensive histories and have performed millions of tests. All laboratories perform frequent internal quality controls and testing, as well as regular third-party testing for independent validation of the accuracy of their testing. Consistently, such validation shows a high degree (>95–99%) results correlation.
What will my results tell me?
Your results will show your levels for the four standard lipid panel markers, plus HbA1c:2,3
| Marker | Normal / Desirable | Borderline / Prediabetes | High / Diabetes Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total Cholesterol | Less than 200 mg/dL | 200–239 mg/dL | 240 mg/dL and above |
| LDL ("bad" cholesterol) | Less than 100 mg/dL | 130–159 mg/dL | 160 mg/dL and above |
| HDL ("good" cholesterol) | 60 mg/dL and above | — | Less than 40 mg/dL is considered low |
| Triglycerides | Less than 150 mg/dL | 150–199 mg/dL | 200 mg/dL and above |
| HbA1c | Less than 5.7% | 5.7%–6.4% (prediabetes) | 6.5% and above (diabetes range) |
Do I need to fast before taking the test?
Yes. Everlywell recommends fasting (water only) for 9–12 hours before collecting your sample, since eating can affect triglyceride and blood sugar readings.
How often should I check my heart health markers?
Most healthy adults should have their cholesterol checked every 4 to 6 years, starting around age 20.4 For HbA1c, screening is generally recommended starting at age 35, or earlier if you have overweight or other risk factors for type 2 diabetes; if your results come back normal, retesting every 1 to 2 years is typically recommended.3 Your doctor may suggest more frequent testing based on your personal risk factors.
