Details

This test measures 4 key hormones known to play an important role in your overall health

Your test results will provide detailed information on the four hormones measured and whether levels are normal, low, or high. When measured together, the levels of these hormones offer a broader overview and greater insight into your hormonal balance and overall health.

Cortisol

Cortisol is made in our adrenal glands and is released in our bodies naturally each day. Cortisol affects energy levels by regulating the release of glucose as a main source of our body's fuel that helps keep us going during the day. Cortisol is also the body's main stress hormone.

DHEA

DHEA, produced primarily in the adrenal glands, acts as a precursor to other sex hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. DHEA peaks in early adulthood and decreases with age.

Estradiol

Estradiol is the main type of estrogen and, while it is the primary female hormone, it is also found in men. The estrogen present in males is formed from DHEA. It can also be formed from the conversion of testosterone by an enzyme most commonly found in belly fat. As men age, their estradiol levels naturally increase. Estrogen does appear to play a role in male fertility by helping with fluid balance in the testicles.

Free Testosterone

Testosterone is produced by the adrenal cortex, the testes in men, and the ovaries in women. When it is bound to protein in the blood it is called Total Testosterone. Testosterone that is not bound to proteins is called Free Testosterone and is the biologically active form of the hormone.
