What is Everlywell?

Everlywell is a digital health testing company that connects consumers with accessible, innovative, and insightful at-home lab tests. At Everlywell, we believe everyone should have access to the lab results they want and need without surprise medical bills. That’s why we offer over 30 at-home lab tests, so you can get results your body can count on without leaving your home or breaking the bank. All Everlywell products are available in 49 states, excluding New York (this is due to a high barrier to entry in the laboratory market). However, our COVID-19 Test Home Collection Kit DTC* is available in all 50 states, including New York.

What are Everlywell mail-in tests and how do they work?

The Everlywell experience is simple. You collect your own sample, mail it to a certified lab for testing, and receive your digital results online. Here is a full breakdown of how it works:

  • After purchasing one of our at-home lab tests, we mail you a kit with everything you need to collect your sample.
  • Upon arrival, you register your kit online to ensure the lab is able to match your sample to your secure digital profile upon receipt.
  • Then, you collect your own sample at home (or anywhere, really!) with the detailed instructions provided in your kit. For most tests, this is a blood sample using a small lancet to prick your finger, but some tests require a saliva sample, urine sample, or stool sample.
  • After collection, you mail your sample to one of our CLIA-certified lab partners for processing using the prepaid shipping label provided in your kit.
  • Once your sample is received by the lab, you are notified via your secure, digital results portal that the processing stage has begun. Within a few days, your digital results are sent to your device in an easy-to-read format. We provide you with all the necessary context and resources to best understand your results, including attending a live group educational session hosted by one of our in-house nurses or connecting directly with a healthcare provider for a telehealth consultation, where applicable.

How does an Everlywell test work?

Our at-home sample collection methods have been clinically validated against traditional methods to meet rigorous standards for test accuracy and reliability. Dried blood spot testing and many other collection methods we offer, like saliva and urine, have been trusted sample collection methods for over 30 years. We offer established collection methods, carefully and optimally designed so that quality lab testing can happen from home.

  • Certified Clinical Laboratories

Each laboratory used to process your sample is CLIA-certified, which means they must meet or exceed federal precision, accuracy, and validity standards. They also obtain state licensure and submit themselves to regular inspections as well as independent third-party performance verifications.

  • Physician-reviewed results

Everlywell works with an independent network of board-certified physicians to support your full testing experience. A physician will review your lab requisition, which is required for testing, and approve eligible orders. The same physician will also review your final test results when completed by the lab. For diagnostic tests such as our STI tests, you receive access to physician consultation and a prescription is offered for positive results.

  • Consumer protections

Under no circumstance do we ever sell our customers' data, and we use state-of-the-art, bank-grade encryption to ensure data security. Customer information is only shared with the labs and physicians that are part of our testing process. Everlywell's best-in-class, secure handling of personal health information earned the company “Highly Compliant” status per the HIPAA/HITECH Security Standards.

How much does Everlywell cost?

We offer over 30 at-home lab tests starting at $49. Over half of the tests we offer cost under $100 (before taxes), which is comparable to the typical out-of-pocket costs of testing in a clinical setting.

Find an overview of the range of tests we offer and the cost of each test on our product page.

Is Everlywell covered by insurance?

Every insurance provider and plan are different, and unfortunately, most do not cover an Everlywell Test. The best way to determine whether or not a test is covered by your insurance provider is to contact them directly to discuss coverage before purchasing. Additionally, Everlywell is not a covered entity, therefore we are currently ineligible to receive reimbursement from any government payor (Medicare, Medicaid, TriCare etc.).

We have tests as low as $49 and you may use your FSA/HSA account to pay for one of our at-home lab tests. Your Everlywell test is authorized by a physician, so it should fit the guidelines for most FSA/HSA coverage. If you have a particularly rigorous plan, it is best to check with your own plan if you’d like to verify before purchase.
