Over time, employers have been looking for more ways to focus on employee wellness—particularly by helping to move medicine into the home. And because of the COVID-19 pandemic, going to a physician’s office or onsite testing location has become even riskier and more burdensome. That’s why in early 2021, a client wanted to find a way to help employees monitor their health and wellness in a safer, easier way.

The Challenge

Over time, employers have been looking for more ways to focus on employee wellness—particularly by helping to move medicine into the home. And because of the COVID-19 pandemic, going to a physician’s office or onsite testing location has become even riskier and more burdensome. That’s why in early 2021, a client wanted to find a way to help employees monitor their health and wellness in a safer, easier way.

The Solution

In partnership with Everly Health Solutions, this employer decided to offer an at-home testing solution to over 15,000 employees eligible to participate in an annual wellness incentive program.

The program involved one seamless, end-to-end digital process that started with a custom opt-in portal website for employees to access with a unique code. From there, they were able to order a consumer-friendly mail-in test to ship directly to their home, register and complete the test, and return it with a prepaid mailer to be processed in one of Everly Health Solution’s CLIA-certified partner labs.

After that, employees received their easy-to-understand, physician-reviewed results through an intuitive HIPAA-compliant digital platform. These downloadable lab results included lifestyle modification suggestions for improving out-of-range results, and participants were advised to share those results with their healthcare provider.

To ensure no personal health information was shared with the client, Everly Health Solutions managed the unique access codes and created a customized, aggregated population health report.

The Results

Overall, the wellness program saw a registration rate of over 70%, with an average order-to registration window of 16 days. Additionally, nearly 75% of opt-in orders occurred within the first 48 hours.

This program included custom communication and engagement strategies based on results, plus a readily available customer service team to offer assistance.

The client also had access to a customizable population health report that had the ability to break down results by biomarker as well as patient attributes. Plus, this information could be used to understand the population’s overall health and inform improvements for wellness programs.

This type of program can also be built out year over year so that more robust data can be gathered over time.
