About this test

A fecal immunochemical test, or FIT, looks for hidden blood in a small stool sample. Polyps and cancers in the colon can bleed in amounts too small to see, which is what the test is designed to catch. No fasting or diet changes are needed.

It is a screening test for people 45 to 75 at average risk with no symptoms. A positive result means blood was found and a clinician should follow up, usually with a colonoscopy; a negative result lowers the chance of a problem for now and is repeated yearly.

What’s in the box

Biohazard bag
The tube goes in here, then into the mailer.
Prepaid return mailer

Instructions and kit ID
Register the ID online before you collect, so your results reach your account.

Reading your result

Your report shows your Hidden blood (FIT) next to the lab’s reference range, with plain-language context for what a higher or lower value can mean. A single value is a snapshot: it is read alongside how you feel, and a repeat shows whether it moved.
